Drafting Local Waste Management Plan for Polican Municipality

Poliçan Municipality, with the assistance of the project staff, is in the process of drafting the “Local Waste Management Plan”. With a decision from the mayor, a working group was set up with which four meetings were held where the preliminary draft was agreed upon and work is being done on the budgeting of the activities. This document is drawn up on the basis of the national legal framework for integrated waste management, taking into account the specific conditions in the local and regional context. The strategic framework of the document is built on four main areas:

Integrated waste management services
Stable funding
Organizational structure
Communication, awareness and community involvement.

Next week, it is planned to hold public hearings with interest groups, in the urban and rural areas, including the Municipal Council. At the end of the process, the document will go to the Poliçan Municipal Council for approval. In the framework of the project, in other four municipalities of the region, local plans have been drawn up and approved and have gone through the evaluation process
